A couple of weeks ago Missouri United States Senate candidate Todd Akin made some comments about rape that did not go down well with the GOP or his Democratic opponent, incumbent Claire McCaskill. If the truth really came out, I am sure Senator McCaskill could not believe her luck that Akin made such an insensitive remark to a St. Louis television reporter. This past week a story went viral about KBSI Fox 23 news, the station you are know watching, where a fictitious KBSI reporter received a statement from Akin that breastmilk cures homosexuality. I personally received calls from media organizations around the country trying to determine if his remarks were valid. They were not. It was written by a satirical website called The Daily Currant. Remember, the following statement is totally false. “Female breastmilk – when fed directly to an adult homosexual male daily for at least four weeks – has a 94% chance of permanently curing homosexual perversions.” Akin added that, “This may surprise you Jeff, but I don’t’ think homosexuality is a choice. We evangelicals, we know that it’s a disease. But the good news is we have the cure.” The reporter was Jeff Raskin. Jeff who? Look, we all know that Congressman Akin has questionable beliefs but right during the GOP convention this satirical article comes out and goes viral. At least they got the KBSI 23 call letters right. If a television, radio, or newspaper had printed that story we would have been sued but it is OK for the idiots on the internet to do it, right? Wrong! With internet bullying, kids killing themselves right here in Missouri because negative internet comments and now a completely false statement under the guise of satire that is picked up and repeated by questionable bloggers everywhere? This article may be satire, but it sure is well timed garbage. What do you think?Akin FOX 23 Quote
