More and more big brother is out there watching our life decisions. I remember the days that the credit scoring industry played very little in our everyday lives. The big three, Transunion, Equifax, and Experian now can stop you from employment, buying a house or car, and even getting married. A recent poll shows that 30% of women and 20% of men won’t marry a person with bad credit. This poll comes from FreeCreditScore.com. Credit is somewhat of a difficult topic on a first date. Can’t you just hear it? I love you honey, you look and act wonderful but if you are under 700 with Transunion this just won’t work. I went to a dating site for the credit obsessed and it is worth looking at what is offered. Creditscoredating.com lets you put a profile on-line and then will match you with thousands of choices. The problem is the credit scores are self-reported and it’s hard to tell if someone is telling the truth. Imagine this conversation. I met a 780 at the bar last night and the other person says two 790’s came in late looking for their friend who is an 820. Look, marriage is difficult at best and there is nothing wrong with talking about financial issues but much of the information by the big three credit agencies is inaccurate. Financial compatibility is important but somehow this brings us to a new low. Barrett Strong sang it best in 1959.Credit Rating & Relationships
