I’ve complained for years about the big three credit reporting agencies, Transunion, Equifax, and Experian.  When it comes to your credit what you don’t know can hurt you.  What we do know is that the Federal Trade Commission reviewed some 3,000 credit reports in the last two years and concluded that 42 million Americans, about one in five with a credit history have errors on their reports.  The errors are bad enough for about 10 million Americans that they probably have to pay higher costs for insurance and car loans.  Actually, the whole industry, in my perspective should be revamped and held accountable for mistakes.   Look at it this way, Fox 23 is supported by advertiser commercials.  If we ran a wrong commercial one in five times for our advertisers we wouldn’t be in business.  Now to make matters worse with credit reporting there are reports that the big three are starting to integrate social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and personal blogs to add to creating your  score.  How this might work is still under review.  A privacy rights advocate says, “Not only is the information you post on your page going to be considered, (the credit firms) also look at the information your friends posted about themselves.  They can take that information and data mine it, and if they see a pattern they can make and inference about you by association.”  Are you kidding?  Hey, be careful what you place on social media sites and check your credit reports for accuracy.  It is time for all of us to do a better job of protecting ourselves from these agencies who, in my perspective, do not work in our best interests.  What do you think?Credit Reporting Agencies
