The evidence is overwhelming that Lance Armstrong used performance enhancing drugs. Even though he passed some 500 drug tests, I would have to say that he is guilty. He has been stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and can’t participate in organized cycling events. Even though he has stepped down from his chairman role of Livestrong the guy remains a hero to many. Armstrong started the 15 year old foundation but more than that he gave inspiration to millions of cancer patients. Livestrong will outlive this problem and recent news reports show that the organization has a 13% increase in fundraising. It has raised nearly $500 million. Only a very few donors have asked for their money back. The program is just outstanding. Not only does it take care of patients who are finished with their cancer treatments but, “(Livestrong) has drawn attention to patients’ lifelong needs from employment to the late effects of toxic cancer therapies, which can cause heart failure, infertility, and even second cancers.” More than 2.5 million cancer patients have used Livestrong to get through treatments and the foundation has helped countless others by finding health insurance. One survivor was quoted in USA Today stating, “We may all come to believe that Lance’s competitive edge and desire to do the improbable went awry…it was exactly those qualities that helped him think so big and bold with Livestrong.” Lance will probably suffer a great deal of mental anguish for his flaws but he has significantly contributed to the lives of millions of cancer survivors who will never forget what he did for them by starting Livestrong.Lance Armstrong Livestrong
