I feel sorry for Penn State but it is time to move forward and get the university out of the limelight for all the bad things that have happened. The responsible party, former football coach Jerry Sandusky, is in prison for 30-60 years for a range of sexual abuse involving 45 counts. Legendary football coach Joe Paterno is dead and his legacy is forever tarnished. Penn State has a $60 million dollar fine; sanctions include a four- year bowl game ban, reduced scholarships and the forfeiture of 112 games. Penn State is coming back strong but now Governor Tom Corbett is making things worse by suing the NCAA. The governor wants all of the $60 million to stay within the State of Pennsylvania and be used to finance abuse and other cause programs. The NCAA will decide how the money is used and it could go to programs in other states. The first of $12 million dollar payments is now due and a group of politicians from Pennsylvania say it is wrong to take the money out of state. The NCAA isn’t talking but here is the deal. It could be that only 25% of the total will be spent on programs in Pennsylvania. The rest could go elsewhere. Thousands of alumni and supporters just don’t need any more bad publicity. The landmark sanctions were agreed upon by the university officials. Look, I might agree with the Governor and those complaining about the use of the money but it is more important to let the national bad publicity subside. The football team came back in 2012 with an 8 and 4 record. Come on Governor Corbett the university is on the right track. It is time to forget the politics.Penn State Law Suit
