KBSI Perspective
There’s bad news for Missouri residents. There are 43 states that have better drivers. I am sure there is a great deal of discussion coming about this study but a new report compiling statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, The National Motorists Association and Mothers Against Drunk Driving says Missouri is in bad shape. The five categories determining the ranking include fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles traveled, failure to obey traffic signals and seat belts, drunk driving, tickets and careless driving. Many of you might have seen these rankings in the news media a couple of weeks ago but here are the worst of the worst. Louisiana, South Carolina, Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, Florida, Missouri ties with North Carolina, followed by Montana, and North Dakota. When it comes to fatalities Montana, currently ranking number nine in the worst driver, list leads the pack in fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles traveled. Here are the states with the best drivers, Vermont, Utah, New Hampshire, Minnesota, and Oregon. The report was compiled by CarinsuranceComparison.com and as stated in the news, “the rankings are seldom purely scientific but they sure get people talking.” As we move from the holidays into the winter driving months don’t forget what Sgt. Phil Esterhaus used to say on Hill Street Blues.States With Bad Drivers
