The State of Washington was the first state, back in 2007, to pass a texting ban. Currently, 39 states including the District of Columbia ban text messages for all drivers. All but three have primary enforcement. Recent news reports show that very few people get a ticket by police for violating the no text laws. Sinclair Broadcast Group, the parent company of Fox 23 and My 49 has taken on a long term, powerful advertising campaign to promote our area to be a No Text Zone. Here is a sample of what you will be seeing on our airwaves and on our website.

My personal thanks to Dr. Sinjay Fonn and the staff at Midwest Neurosurgeons for their support and understanding of this important project. You will see promos like the one you just saw for months to come on Fox 23 and My 49. Good enforcement of texting while driving is important. Right now, according to studies, drivers are not afraid of receiving a ticket or in the worst case scenario having a tragic accident. We hope this campaign will help curb this dangerous practice.Texting & Driving
