Severe weather possible April 1-2, 2024
Strong to severe storms will be possible tonight and into the overnight. Large hail, damaging wind, and tornadoes will be possible.
Above is the timeframe for the storms expected. Any of these storms will have a severe weather potential.
We are on the southern edge of the severe potential. From Poplar Bluff, to Cape, to Evansville and areas north, there is the orange shaded level 3 “Enhanced Risk”.
The yellow shaded area is the level 2 “Slight Risk” and the green shaded are is the level 1 “Marginal Risk”.
Above are what each category means. We are in the orange and yellow shaded areas.
The chance for a tornado is at 2-5%, which doesn’t sound high, but it’s significant. The better chance for large and dangerous tornadoes is just to our northeast where EF-2 or larger is possible.
Large hail is possible with any storm that moves through tonight.
Damaging wind gusts are also very likely. The areas with the black lines may see wind gusts in excess of 75 mph.
