Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7 p.m. Wednesday – May 22, 2024

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued to include the southern counties of the FOX 23 viewing area, impacting southeast Missouri, western Kentucky and northwest Tennessee UNTIL 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Primary threats include damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph and large hail up to 2″ in diameter.

Thunderstorms are forming over eastern Arkansas, expected to intensify this afternoon and spread eastward across the watch area (in yellow above).

Locally damaging wind gusts and hail are possible with the stronger cells.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for strong and severe storms, so be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and possible warnings.
