Severe storms LIKELY Sunday, tornadoes possible
Sunday, an Enhanced (level 3 0ut 0f 5) risk is in effect for the KBSI viewing area.
Significant severe weather will be expected Sunday afternoon and evening including very large hail, strong tornadoes and swaths of damaging winds. Significant severe weather means storms capable of one or more of the following:
- strong tornadoes (EF-2 or greater)
- damaging wind gusts (75 mph or greater)
- and/or very large hail (2″ or larger)
A couple of TORNADOES will be LIKELY. The hatched area is an additional 10% on top of the 10% already. A few EF-2 or greater tornadoes could occur, especially south of Cape Girardeau.
LARGE HAIL up to 2″+ in diameter(up to tennis ball size hail) will be possible in the red area with the hatched marks. The black hatched lines are an additional 10% probability on top of the 30% for LARGE HAIL.
DAMAGING WINDS, 75+ mph are LIKELY and will cause down power lines, tree damage and roof damages. Make sure to take anything outside and put it inside or somewhere enclosed.
Strong and severe storms look to develop in the early afternoon and evening hours. The pink color is LARGE HAIL, DAMAGING WINDS and possible tornadoes. This line of storms will be STRONG, make sure to be prepared and have a severe weather plan in case bad weather strikes your area.
The significant tornado parameter shows a decent chance for possible tornadoes around 4:30-6pm.
Sunday, high temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s. This warmth will help intensify these storms quickly.
Sunday, rain showers in the morning and the storms begin around 2-3pm. Strong and severe storms 3pm- 11pm tomorrow. Some tornadoes are possible and can be long lived. Make sure you have a plan and shelter in place for tomorrow. Storms are likely as we get into Wednesday. We will keep you up to date as we get past this weekend.
