Rusty Dawkins

Rusty Dawkins is a meteorologist with FOX23, igniting a lifelong passion for weather and years of forecasting experience. His fascination with weather began growing up in the Nebraska Panhandle, where watching storms roll across the wide-open skies of the Sandhills sparked an early desire to understand the atmosphere.

Dawkins graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a degree in meteorology and climatology. His career has taken him to newsrooms across the Midwest, including roles at WEAU in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and KAAL-TV in Minnesota, as well as multiple stops forecasting weather for audiences in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Recognizing that the industry was changing and that digital media was developing an increasing role, he shifted into that world for a few years to explore it further. During that time, Rusty maintained his love of weather.

Rusty lives with his wife, Melanie Dawkins, and their two children. They spend their free time renovating their home and traveling the world!
