Warming up on Wednesday, Storm Chances Thursday

Mild temperatures are expected to warm throughout the evening as we look to spend the overnight hours in the 50s.

Low temperatures look more like high temperatures tonight across the Heartland, with most of us close to 20 degrees above average.

Mostly cloudy skies and strong winds will help to trap in heat for the overnight hours in Cape. Our low will be in the middle 50s.

Highs will soar to the 70s on Wednesday when we usually see the upper 40s in mid-February across the Heartland.

Variable cloudiness is expected for Cape on Wednesday, though we should see temperatures reach the lower 70s by the afternoon.

Shifting gears toward precipitation chances later this week, StormCast shows storm chances arriving Thursday afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center has a Slight Risk (level 2 out of 5) of severe weather in place for southern Illinois and portions of western Kentucky. A Marginal Risk is in place for portions of southeast Missouri and northwest Tennessee. An isolated tornado and damaging winds are the main concerns for Thursday’s storm chances.

Temperatures cool down following the precipitation chances on Thursday as we return to high temperatures in the 50s. The 40s hit the forecast starting on Sunday and look to continue into next week.
