Heat, Humidity Continue, Small Storm Chance Thursday Evening
Dangerous heat and humidity will remain in the forecast for the remainder of the work week. An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. CDT on Friday, July 3, with heat index values near 110° possible.
On top of the heat, a few stray showers and thunderstorms are possible on Thursday afternoon and evening. Checking the radar for any Thursday evening plans will be a good idea, according to the latest runs of StormCast.
Temperatures remain mild on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Overnight lows are forecasted in the middle to upper 70s.
Clear skies this evening in Cape Girardeau will give way to a calm start to our Thursday morning.
Above-average temperatures will continue on Thursday afternoon, with highs in the middle to upper 90s across the viewing area.
Make sure you are staying well hydrated and taking breaks from the heat if you plan on spending extended periods of time outdoors. Heat index values will be above 100° once again on Thursday afternoon.
Cloud cover will gradually build throughout the day in Cape. Keep an eye on the radar on Thursday evening; a shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out.
