Hot, Humid, Daily Afternoon Storm Chances Continue
The forecast appears to be on repeat over the next several days, with Thursday offering scattered chances for showers and storms to interrupt a mostly sunny day.
StormCast shows the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout Thursday afternoon. These are expected to be fairly scattered; therefore, some may see rain while others do not.
Temperatures Wednesday night into Thursday morning will be close to average for mid-July. Overnight lows for most of the viewing area are expected to reach the lower 70s.
Outside of an early chance for a lingering shower, partly cloudy skies will highlight the rest of the night in Cape Girardeau. Overnight lows are expected in the lower 70s.
Seasonal high temperatures remain in the forecast for Thursday afternoon across the Heartland. Highs will range from the upper 80s to the lower 90s.
After a mostly sunny morning, chances for showers and an occasional thunderstorm enter the forecast for the afternoon in Cape. Most of these will likely remain brief, but could still impact any outdoor afternoon plans.
On top of storm chances, there will be no shortage of humidity. Heat indices are expected to reach the middle and upper 90s, almost 10 degrees warmer than the air temperature!
Hot and humid continues to sum up the forecast through the weekend. We see a little more sunshine for the start of next week, but not before nearly daily chances for a brief shower and thunderstorm during the hours of peak heating.
