Dangerous Heat Arrives Sunday
High heat and humidity will make time outside the rest of the weekend difficult. A Heat Advisory will go into effect at 11 a.m. CDT on Sunday, July 26, until 7 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, July 28. Feels-like temperatures could reach up to 110 degrees for most of the viewing area.
A few of our southern counties could see localized higher indices. An Extreme Heat Warning is in place for a handful of counties in the Bootheel of Missouri and northwest Tennessee. Feels-like temperatures up to 115 degrees will be possible.
There is a small chance for showers throughout Sunday afternoon, but these will do little in terms of giving us a break from the heat.
Low temperatures on Sunday morning will be seasonally warm, ranging from the lower to middle 70s.
Partly cloudy skies tonight in Cape Girardeau with the potential for low-level cloud cover during the early morning hours on Sunday.
While high temperatures do not look terribly warm for late July, it will be the humidity that gets you. Highs will range from the lower to middle 90s with little relief from the wind.
It will not take long for warm weather to make its way into Cape Girardeau. Temperatures will be in the lower 90s on Sunday morning, followed by gradual clearing and afternoon temperatures in the lower 90s.
The heat index on Sunday afternoon features dangerous levels of heat and humidity, with feels-like temperatures near 110 degrees.
Our warmest stretch of the extended forecast arrives for the start of the work week, with temperatures gradually returning to average by the end of the week. A few scattered showers here and there, though the majority of the forecast remains dry.
