Longtime Johnson County dispatcher dies after battle with cancer

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — Johnson County Sheriff’s Department dispatcher Toby Dalton died Tuesday morning following a battle with cancer.

Dalton served as a dispatcher for 22 years and was remembered by the department as a calm, steady voice for people experiencing emergencies.

Department officials praised Dalton’s strength, compassion and dedication, saying she served as a lifeline for many people throughout her career.

“44-31, rest easy. We have the watch,” the department said in its tribute.

The sheriff’s department asked the community to keep Dalton’s family, friends and colleagues in their thoughts.
