Unpleasant Heat, Humidity the Rest of the Week
Heat and humidity will continue to create uncomfortable conditions throughout the work week. A Heat Advisory is in place for most of the viewing area until 8 p.m. CDT on Thursday, August 13, with feels-like temperatures near 110 degrees.
The latest run of StormCast shows quiet conditions for the Heartland through the day on Tuesday.
We stay warm through the overnight hours and into the start of the day on Tuesday. Overnight lows will only reach the middle and upper 70s.
Mostly clear skies are expected through the overnight in Cape Girardeau with a warm start to the day on Tuesday.
Tuesday afternoon will see air temperatures in the 90s for most of the viewing area, with a southwesterly breeze picking up in the afternoon.
We will spend most of Tuesday in the 90s in Cape, with mostly sunny skies providing little relief from the heat.
The feels-like temperatures will likely eclipse 100 degrees for most of us in the Heartland, reaching as high as 110 degrees on Tuesday.
Wednesday marks the return of severe weather for the northeastern corner of the viewing area. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) of severe weather is in place, as isolated severe storms will be possible.
Several chances of precipitation follow for the close of the work week, though relief from the summertime heat will have to wait. Highs remain in the lower to middle 90s for the remainder of the work week and into the weekend.
