Sunny, Seasonal Start to the Weekend
A quiet start to the weekend is on the way for the Heartland, as afternoon temperatures will be close to average for late August.
Minimal storm chances across the Heartland to start the weekend, according to the latest runs of StormCast.
We start Saturday morning off with temperatures at or slightly above normal for this time of year. Expect the middle to upper 60s for any morning plans with light winds.
Clear skies will persist through the overnight hours in Cape Girardeau. We should see a pleasant evening heading into the start of the weekend with overnight lows in the middle 60s.
Highs on Saturday afternoon will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s through the Heartland. A light wind out of the north-northwest will pick up for the afternoon.
Minimal impacts from the weather are expected for any outdoor plans on Saturday in Cape. We should see a fair amount of sunshine as afternoon temperatures approach the average mark for late August.
Sunday will feature slightly cooler afternoon temperatures after areas of patchy fog for the morning. Sunny skies return for the afternoon with highs in the middle to upper 80s.
We see a few chances for showers and thunderstorms every night for the start of the work week. Despite these chances, rainfall potential remains less than an inch for the majority of the viewing area at this time.
Below-average highs make an appearance for the end of the weekend and into the start of next week. Overnight chances for showers and thunderstorms make their way into the forecast starting Monday. Severe potential is low at the moment, though greater forecast clarity could help to pinpoint a greater threat as we get closer. Temperatures over the next week will likely reside in some form of the 80s.
