We just cannot seem to shake the summertime heat across the Heartland. A Heat Advisory will go into effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. CDT on Monday, September 14, for a handful of counties in southeast Missouri and northwest Tennessee. Feels-like temperatures could reach up to 107 degrees.

Not everyone will see dangerous heat indices to start the work week, but it will still feel plenty hot for most of the area.

The majority of the viewing area will be placed under a Heat Advisory from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, September 14. Afternoon air temperature will reach the middle and upper 90s, with feels-like temperatures around 105 degrees.

Off to another warm start to the day for most of us, with lows only falling to the upper 60s and lower 70s.

Partly cloudy skies through the overnight hours in Cape Girardeau, with a light breeze. We start our Monday off with temperatures nearly 10 degrees above average for mid-September.

Highs will reach the upper 80s and lower 90s for most, to start the work week off.

Plenty of sunshine is in the forecast for Cape, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s by Monday afternoon.

We continue to turn up the heat on Tuesday, with many of us seeing air temperatures in the middle and upper 90s. A few record highs will also be in jeopardy across the Heartland.

The latest stretch of heat is in no hurry to leave. Expect above-average temperatures through the week ahead. A small chance for showers and storms by the end of the work week will do very little to bring our temperatures down.
