Apple Valley Hillbilly Garden – Free on Fox 23

CALVERT CITY, Ky. (KBSI) – Apple Valley Hillbilly Garden in Calvert City is a unique place to visit.

The garden was founded in 1928. The garden started as an apple vineyard selling apples and apple cider. Although Keith Holt, owner of the vineyard, wanted it to become something more.

Apple Valley was created as an art gallery for people to walk around and enjoy Holt’s “funky art.” The people, he says, have many different and interesting reactions.

The gallery features an old country store, folk art, and a museum of toy’s collected by Holt.

Natural disasters hurt the garden as the place is outside. Some art pieces have been damaged but Holt is willing to make repairs for the sake of others and their enjoyment.

“This is to open your mind and think outside of the box and have fun while doing it,” said Holt.

Apple Valley Hillbilly Garden and Toyland is located at 9351 US Route 68 in Calvert City, Ky. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
