McKenzie Johnson

McKenzie “Z” Johnson is a weekend anchor with KBSI FOX23. She joined the station as an intern in January 2022 and was hired as a full-time multimedia journalist later that year. Johnson was promoted to weekend anchor in July 2023.

Originally from Hebron, Nebraska, Johnson grew up with her parents and four younger siblings and values staying close to home to support her family. Her interest in television news began at an early age while watching investigative programs such as Dateline and 20/20, inspiring her long-term goal of working in investigative journalism.

Johnson solidified her career path after job shadowing at KLKNTV during her senior year of high school. Around the newsroom, she is often called “Z” to distinguish her from another staff member with a similar name.

Outside the newsroom, Johnson enjoys spending time with friends, reading, listening to music and supporting her siblings at sporting events.
