Jayson Jewelers has been in business since 1984. The mother of Kendra Harris and Regan Laiben had a love for fine jewelry and gemstones and opened a store in downtown Cape Girardeau.

“We think what makes Jayson Jewelers special is that we really cater to what the customer needs,” said Kendra. “We ask a lot of questions. We’re very interested in helping them get to the end result. One of the things we do really well, we feel, is our bridal category.

They spend a lot of time hand selecting each item.

They do a lot of selection when it comes to loose diamonds. That includes traveling overseas to the diamond capitol of the world to select diamonds not only for the store but individual clients.

“We really enjoy this category,” said Kendra. “It keeps us very busy. We have an in house jewelers that helps us set those diamonds of your choice.”

“What we’re seeing current trends this year is, of course, stacking with engagement rings, different bands, mixed metals,” said Regan.

They are also seeing interest in lots of diamond jewelry and colored gemstones including saffires, rubies and emeralds.

“We do a lot of earth mined diamonds, but we have branched into lab-grown diamonds,” said Kendra. “We’ve been selling them for the last 7-8 years. We do custom with that as well.

Everything they have is hand selected so that we have a variety of things to choose from.

The also do wish lists for people and layaway financing.

“We just make it fun!” said Kendra. “We’re going to gift wrap that item for you so it’s going to looks really nice under the Christmas tree or for your anniversary… whatever the occasion might be. We’re going to make it fun and easy.”
