ST. LOUIS (KBSI) – Mike Shildt is out as St. Louis Cardinals manager.

The St. Louis Cardinals posted a three-line statement on its website quoting president of baseball operations John Mozeliak as saying, “We have a philosophical difference of the direction that our Major League club is going.”

Shildt led the Cardinals to a franchise-best 17-game win streak and an NL Wild Card berth this past season.

In four seasons with St. Louis, Shildt went 252-199, winning the NL Manager of the Year Award in 2019. He also guided the club to three straight playoff appearances.
