Easter holiday is big business

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Many people across the country celebrate the Easter holiday. This year’s Easter celebration is looking to have people spend big money.  

Holidays are big business and this year is no exception. 

 According to WalletHub $20.8 billion will be spent on easter 2022. This number is up from 2019’s $18 billion.  

 Eighty percent of Americans celebrate Easter and people spend about $170 per person.  

The money is spent on different such as clothing, food, and a bunch of candy. 

According to WalletHub,

  • $3.4 billion will be spent on clothes.
  • $6.6 billion will be spent on food with 57.9 percent of people planning on cooking special Easter dinners.  
  • $3 billion will go towards chocolate and candy, with an estimated 700 million peeps and 16 million jelly beans being sold.  
  • $3.4 billion will be spent on gifts such as Easter baskets and more.

Easter next year is April 9.
