A few more rain chances; 90s return next week (7/30/22)
Saturday turned out to be on the soggier side along and south of Cape Girardeau, with many locations picking up some beneficial rainfall. Unfortunately, much of southern Illinois missed out on the moisture once again.
On Saturday night, a few overnight storms cannot be ruled out. This is a trend that will continue into Sunday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Sunday morning. We also cannot rule out some scattered storm activity during the afternoon and evening.
Winds return out of the south and southwest on Sunday, helping boost high temperatures back into the 80s for many. We’re forecasting a high temperature of 83° in Cape Girardeau.
Given rain chances sticking around into Monday, we’re keeping the Skeeter Meter in the “Ugh” territory on Sunday and Monday. That said, for areas that don’t see much rain, there will likely be less standing water. This could result in less mosquito activity in those areas.
Highs return to near 90° on Monday, and we’ll keep the 90s through the rest of the week for now. The weather appears to turn drier on Tuesday and Wednesday.
