Another pop-up storm chance on Thursday (5/31/23)
High temperatures reached the upper-80s to low-90s across the FOX 23 coverage area on Wednesday. It was a touch humid as well, which helped initiate some pop-up thunderstorms in the heat of the day. The rain was not widespread, and any lingering showers will fizzle out on Wednesday evening.
We expect more pop-up storms on Thursday. The morning will remain dry, but we’ll see some fair-weather cumulus clouds developing by lunchtime. These clouds will grow and produce showers into the afternoon. No severe weather is anticipated on Thursday, and these storms will be very hit-or-miss.
Temperatures won’t change all too much on Thursday, with highs in the upper-80s to low-90s across the area. We’re forecasting a high near 89° in Cape Girardeau.
We’ll keep a pop-up storm chance on Friday, and it’ll be another very warm day. However, things do appear to turn drier over the weekend with lots of sunshine and temperatures in the low to mid-90s. In fact, highs on Saturday may be a few degrees shy of a record in Cape Girardeau.
