Better rain chances arrive next week (8/6/22)

Saturday was a fairly typical summer day across the FOX 23 coverage area. Everyone managed to stay dry, as there wasn’t enough forcing to get a few pop-up storms underway.

We expect mostly clear skies on Saturday night and Sunday morning. For the vast majority of the day on Sunday, we should see mostly sunny skies as well. Again, a pop-up afternoon thunderstorm cannot be ruled out. If they can develop, they’ll be hit-or-miss (likely more miss than hit).

High temperatures should reach the lower-90s once again for most, with the humidity making it feel in the 100-105° range during the afternoon.

Although we have a lot of heat/humidity on Sunday, the small rain chance allows us to keep the Skeeter Meter in the “High” category. However, rain chances start to increase on Monday and Tuesday. We’re bumping the Skeeter Meter into the “Ugh” territory on those days given the higher chance of seeing standing water.

While Monday likely remains warm, a cold front passes sometime late Monday and early Tuesday. That should be enough to knock temperatures back into the 80s for several days.

For now, we keep rain chances through about Wednesday before a drier pattern settles in on Thursday.
