Winter Storm Warning for Thursday (12/22/22)

A Winter Storm Warning (pink) was just issued to include most of our area. Both the warning and the Winter Weather Advisory (purple) advisory are through 9 p.m. on Thursday for snow potential, strong winds and dangerous wind chills.


By Thursday afternoon, the light rain will turnover into snow and fall quickly. It’ll be over by Thursday night with 1-3″ still possible with this storm.

Light rain possible first before a full transition to snow by the afternoon. A large swath of snow as of Thursday morning has been pushing through most of the Midwest, from Minnesota through Kansas and more.


Once the cold front comes through, extreme cold temperatures are going to left behind. Stong winds and cold temperatures have been the reason a Wind Chill Warning is in place for our entire viewing area Thursday through Saturday. The wind chill will approach 30 degrees below zero at times.

Temperatures will quickly drop off this morning and be in the single digits by tonight.

With the winds becoming quite gusty behind the front. Winds will be out of the northwest and at times we could see anywhere from 25-40 mph gusts being recorded. Because of that, winds chills will drop almost 20 -30°F below zero overnight.
