Cloudy for eclipse; colder and breezy this weekend

Rainfall through much of Friday shows that most of us didn’t see more than a trace. Most of the measurable rain was well off to the north and west this time around. Gloomy conditions out there for the second half of the day, though, with the cold front bringing some changes.

You also may have heard some of the buzz going around with the solar eclipse happening on Saturday. It’ll begin around 10:30 a.m. CDT, with peak coverage right around noon. The peak coverage of the moon blocking the sun through our area is about 50-60 percent.

However, we will not have great viewing conditions as most of us will be cloudy and overcast. The best viewing will be south of our region. So if you do venture out, make sure to have eye protection for this event!

Solar Eclipse

Otherwise, we’ll eventually see highs on Saturday in just the 60s after a good stretch in the upper 70s and 80s. Fall feels are here for the weekend!

That being said, it’ll be quite breezy on Saturday with wind gusts around 25-35 mph throughout the day, especially by the afternoon. This will add a bit of a chill to our temperatures in the 60s.
