An EXTREME HEAT WARNING is in effect for much of the region until 7 p.m. CDT Thursday, July 24. A Heat Advisory is also in effect until 7 p.m. CDT on Thursday, July 24, for Saline, Gallatin, Pope, and Hardin counties in Illinois and Livingston, Crittenden, Caldwell, and Lyon counties in Kentucky. Heat indices will be between 105 and 110 degrees for most of our area.

Low temperatures across the region will only drop to the mid-to-upper 70s with a south-southwesterly breeze continuing to send heat and humidity into our area. Mostly clear skies are expected as we prepare to start the work week.

A hot Monday ahead as most of the heartland will reach the upper 90s with a westerly breeze. We will see mostly sunny skies and a chance for evening showers and thunderstorms, especially for our northern counties.

Stormcast is showing showers and thunderstorms close to dinner time on Monday in southern Illinois. There is little to no severe risk for storms entering our area tomorrow.

Extreme heat will continue to be a problem for the next few days. On Monday, heat indices will be well into the triple digits, with a few spots reaching 110 degrees.
