Frigid Start, Sunny and Warmer for Tuesday Afternoon
Frigid temperatures will continue in wake of this past weekend’s winter storm, returning temperatures to the single digits this evening.
Overnight lows will reach the single digits, with a few spots across our viewing area close to zero.
Mostly clear skies and snowpack will create dangerously cold temperatures in Cape Girardeau this evening.
Forecast wind chills are expected to be below zero for the start of our Tuesday.
Due to the dangerous cold, an Extreme Cold Warning is in place for the majority of the viewing area and goes until 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
While we have some colder temperatures to deal with, StormCast keeps us dry over the next couple of days.
High temperatures will be close to freezing across the Heartland thanks to winds out of the southwest.
While Tuesday’s high might not scream “warm” we will be warmer than the very frigid temperatures we saw this past weekend. Temperatures recover well after a frigid start to the day.
Temperatures peak on Tuesday before slowly falling to the teens by Friday. Overnight lows look to be in the single digits going forward, dipping below zero late Friday into Saturday.
