Frost Advisory overnight into Sunday

Highs this week have been in the 60s, 70s and 80s. And now, focus turns to the potential for frost and near-freezing temperatures. Sunday morning, lavender-shaded counties (as seen below) are under a Frost Advisory starting at 1 a.m. through 9 a.m.

Temperatures will fall and be quite chilly overnight with clear skies and only a light breeze. Reynolds and Madison counties are under a Freeze Warning for the same time period. The forecast may call for similar headlines for Monday morning.

Frost Advisory

Sunday morning’s forecast is in the lower 30s, and depending on how cold we get, we could be breaking old records. Sunday’s low temperature record was set back in 2012 and would be broken if temperatures get colder than 34°. Records are colder for now on Monday, but we’ll see if we can get close to that record, too.

Record High

Looking across our area, cooler temperatures will be seen to the north while the southern half only dips into the middle and upper 30s this time around.

The cold snap is going to stick with us for some time; highs will struggle to near the 60s on Sunday, and then hover in the low to mid 60s throughout the week.

Dma Tonight Low

Even looking beyond this week, this for the period of Friday through the following Tuesday, there’s a good chance we see below-normal temperatures, too.

Cpc 6 10 Outlook

And rain chances possible each day this week, looking slight and small for now. For a majority of the week, showers will be on and off with a late chance for storms looking toward Friday.
