Heat Builds in the Coming Days, Midweek Storm Chances

Heating back up in the Heartland for our Tuesday forecast. Highs return to the lower 90s with not much of a breeze to help cool us off.

Another quiet run of StormCast hints at a smooth morning commute on Tuesday, with mostly sunny skies through the majority of the afternoon.

Overnight lows will be a touch warm for early September, though not bad for most of the viewing area.

Mostly clear skies heading into the start of Tuesday for Cape Girardeau. Impacts to the morning commute look to be minimal for the Heartland.

Highs will be close to 10 degrees above our average mark for early September on Tuesday afternoon. Expect afternoon temperatures in the lower to middle 90s.

After taking Labor Day off, temperatures look to return to the 90s in Cape under mostly sunny skies.

The heat reaches a fever pitch on Wednesday as afternoon temperatures are forecast in the middle to upper 90s. Heat indices will likely be well above 100 degrees as well.

Chances for showers and storms beginning late Wednesday and through the remainder of the work week will look to bring temperatures down. Highs fall back to the middle and upper 80s after a passing disturbance, though a return to the 90s will not take long.
