Heat Continues Into Thursday
Heat Advisory:
A HEAT ADVISORY remains in effect until 7 p.m. CDT on Friday, June 27. Heat index values are expected to be above 100 degrees over the coming days. Be sure to drink plenty of water and have a plan to take breaks from the heat if you have to be outdoors for extended periods of time.
Forecast:
Temperatures will remain in the lower 90s until after 8 p.m. Wednesday night. Temperatures will hover above the 80-degree mark until after midnight.
Low temperatures across the region will be in the mid-to-upper 70s with a light breeze. Due to the persistent heat, our nightly low temperatures are sitting close to 10 degrees above average.
High temperatures for tomorrow will reach the mid-90s across the area. Dew points will continue to reach the mid-70s, leaving us with a humid Thursday with winds out of the west southwest. We’ll see mostly sunny skies with an isolated storm chance later in the day.
The warmer temperatures and higher moisture will combine to push the heat index well above 100 degrees once again tomorrow. Much of the area will see heat index values in the triple digits throughout Thursday afternoon.
The heat will continue through the weekend, where we could start to see a few isolated storm chances. These storms could bring us some temporary relief from the heat, before temperatures finally begin to settle down towards the start of next week.
