Heat continues, storm chance tomorrow night
Hot temperatures continue throughout the day on Wednesday. There are several heat alerts in effect across the region, starting with a Heat Advisory for the salmon colored counties in the graphic below. Heat index values in these areas are expected to be in between 105 and 110 degrees.
An Excessive Heat Warning is also in effect until Thursday evening. Heat index values of 110 degrees or higher are possible in the dark pink counties shown below.
Temperatures quickly soar into the 90s today, with the high temperature sitting in the middle 90s during the mid afternoon hours.
Much of the same story continues tomorrow as high temperatures across the region are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s. Dewpoints for the area will also be in the mid to upper 70s.
Triple digits will continue to blanket the map for heat index values on Thursday. Be sure to take the proper precautions when spending extended periods of time outdoor and drink plenty of fluids.
Thursday evening and into the overnight hours will bring the chance to see showers and thunderstorms across the area. There is a marginal risk of severe weather, with the primary hazard for these storms being damaging winds.
Temperatures look to be relatively cooler after the rain chance on Thursday evening. We will stay in the lower 90s through the weekend before heating up once again on Monday. There will be plenty of sunshine over the coming days and we stay clear of rain chances for the rest of the forecast.
