Hot and Humid on Monday, Cooler Temperatures Coming This Week
Forecast:
High temperatures across the heartland were well above average on Saturday. Many across the area saw highs in the mid-to-upper 90s, with a few spots in the triple digits.
A HEAT ADVISORY remains in effect until 8 p.m. CDT Tuesday, as the heat index could reach 110 degrees during peak heating hours. Have a plan to take breaks from the heat if you absolutely need to be outside, drink plenty of water, and monitor yourself and those around you for heat-related illnesses.
For tonight, temperatures are expected to stay on the warmer side, only dropping down into the mid-70s. Partly cloudy skies this evening with a light and variable wind.
Looking ahead to Monday, temperatures look to be a very similar story to the one we have been living the past several days. High temperatures in the upper 90s, with the possibility for a few places to see 100 degrees. Mostly sunny skies ahead and a light wind to start the work week.
In Cape, there is not much of tomorrow that will not be spent in the 90s. Temperatures will quickly heat up throughout the day with mostly sunny skies, leaving the evening commute home to be hot and humid.
Heat index values across the area are high enough to make you sweat just by looking at them. 105 degree or high heat indices across the region, with a few spots closing in on 110 degrees.
As for rain, our next best chances will not come until the early morning hours on Tuesday. A line of storms is expected to move in from the northwest seen in the latest run of Stormcast.
As we head into the work week, these hotter temperatures look to be coming to a close. Storm chances on Tuesday and Wednesday will help cool us off closer to average by the end of this week. Temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s will continue through next weekend.
