Heat Alerts on Monday:

A little more cloud cover hits the forecast for the start of the work week, with gradually clearing skies for the afternoon. An afternoon shower or two remains possible, though will be fairly scattered in nature.

A Heat Advisory remains in place for the viewing area through Tuesday evening. Forecast heat indices range from 100 to 105 degrees.

Forecast:

We may see a few passing showers during the afternoon, but StormCast keeps our chances isolated for Monday afternoon.

Lows on Sunday evening will give us little relief from the hot and humid afternoons. Temperatures drop to the lower 70s for most with a light breeze across the heartland.

Storm chances should wrap up before midnight, with partly cloudy skies to follow for those in Cape Girardeau.

Air temperatures will reach the lower 90s across the viewing area by Monday afternoon, with little relief provided from the wind throughout the day.

Cloud cover will decrease throughout the day on Monday for Cape, with a stray afternoon shower or storm possible.

High levels of humidity will once again make any time spent outdoors challenging. Feels-like temperatures are expected in the triple digits across the viewing area for Monday afternoon.

A passing disturbance on Tuesday evening will bring a return to our chances for severe weather. Isolated to scattered severe storms will be possible for the eastern half of the viewing area. A Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) of severe weather is in place for portions of southern Illinois and western Kentucky, with a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) east of that into southeast Missouri.

Tuesday looks to be our warmest day on the forecast, before a passing cold front brings chances for storms and cooler afternoon temperatures. Temperatures remain below average for the remainder of the forecast period, with another round of storms possible heading into the weekend.
