Weather Headlines:

We turn the thermostat up a few more degrees on Wednesday, with highs forecast in the middle 90s. Chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms enter into the forecast by the afternoon.

High heat and humidity will create another afternoon where spending extended time outdoors will be challenging for some. A Heat Advisory will go into effect at 11 a.m. and continue until 8 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, with feels-like temperatures up to 108 degrees.

One to two strong to severe storms cannot be ruled out during the afternoon and evening either, particularly in the northern half of the viewing area. A Marginal Risk of severe weather is in place, with large hail and damaging winds the main concerns in the strongest storms.

The latest run of StormCast shows scattered storm chances for the viewing area through Wednesday afternoon. More organized showers and storms pass to our north through Wednesday evening.

Forecast:

We start the day with temperatures well above average once again, down in the 70s.

Mostly clear skies remain in the forecast through the start of the day on Wednesday for Cape Girardeau. It will be a warm morning commute with temperatures in the 70s.

Highs will range from the mid-to-upper 90s and will depend on where scattered storms set up during the afternoon. Nonetheless, it will be far warmer than we would expect for early September.

Mostly sunny skies are expected for most of the day in Cape, though a few scattered storms cannot be ruled out during the afternoon.

Temperatures begin to look a little better on Thursday, back down into the 80s for most.

Storm chances continue into the weekend with temperatures slowly climbing back into the lower 90s. Chances for severe weather will continue to be monitored through the start of next week.
