Weather Headlines:

A Heat Advisory remains in place through Wednesday evening for several counties in southeast Missouri, western Kentucky and northwest Tennessee. This advisory has been extended until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16. Feels-like temperatures are expected to reach around 105 degrees each afternoon.

The remainder of the viewing area will be placed under a Heat Advisory at 11 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, September 15. This advisory will also last until 7 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, with feels-like temperatures around 105 degrees during the hours of peak heating.

Many of us will spend Tuesday afternoon with feels-like temperatures in the triple digits. Be sure to stay hydrated, take breaks from the heat and monitor yourself and others for signs of heat illness.

Familiarize yourself with the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke for the coming days!

Forecast:

It will be another very warm evening for the Heartland as temperatures struggle to dip below 70 degrees.

Mostly clear skies are expected this evening in Cape Girardeau. Do not expect much help from the wind to try to keep things cool overnight.

StormCast remains fairly quiet across the viewing area for Tuesday. Some models are picking up on the chance for quick shower, but most of us will likely remain dry.

Forecast highs across the viewing area will rival records for the calendar day on Tuesday. Many of us will see temperatures in the upper 90s, if not 100 degrees.

Temperatures will stay in the 70s for Cape before quickly heating up by Tuesday afternoon.

Temperatures are only expected to increase by Wednesday afternoon. Continue to stay hydrated through the week ahead, with several days of excessive heat and humidity in the forecast.

Near-record heat remains in the forecast through the work week ahead. Small chances for precipitation are scattered through the weekend forecast, though most of us will have to wait until next week before we see relief from the heat.
