Less rain incoming, still above average for the year

The majority of the week ahead will remain dry. Dry and warmer, day by day. There is a small chance to see spotty, isolated showers on Tuesday, but those chances are far from great. Tuesday remains the only day with talk of precipitation in the near future.

And many of us could use the break from rain. Even though we are about 2″ below normal for the month of May, we are exceeding averages for the year. In a normal year, we’d see about 20.5″ of rain through our region, but we are over that mark. So far in 2023, Cape Girardeau alone has seen about 22.43″.

With mostly sunny skies for the majority of Tuesday, temperatures will continue to climb a little higher than the start of this week. Winds will be light overall, with a little more humidity playing a part Tuesday and Wednesday.

After that, dew points drop for the end of the week. Friday will be one of the cooler days with highs in the upper 70s. But so far, Memorial weekend looks great for the start of pool season!
