Mix of Clouds and Sunshine Friday

Expect a cloudy start to Friday, with gradually clearing skies moving in for the afternoon. Temperatures will be close to average again, reaching the upper 70s.

The latest runs of StormCast lean toward another dry afternoon for Friday. Rain chances will be hard to find through the weekend, with pleasant temperatures ahead.

Overcast skies through the overnight hours will lead to temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s on Friday morning.

Winds remain light Thursday night into Friday morning in Cape Girardeau. Overnight lows will fall to the upper 50s with partly cloudy skies.

Friday afternoon will be close to average for late September across the Heartland. Temperatures will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Sunshine should increase throughout the day in Cape, with temperatures in the upper 70s. Winds will be light and out of the north throughout the day.

Saturday will feature temperatures a few degrees cooler, with afternoon highs in the middle to upper 70s.

While we look to stay dry through the weekend, chances for rain increase by the middle of next week. Models are estimating between two and four inches of rain across our area over the next seven days.

Temperatures will warm up alongside our chances for rain by the end of September. Rain chances are expected to be enhanced by the leftovers from Hurricane Polo, which is currently churning off the western coast of Mexico.
