More Freeze Warnings issued through the weekend (3/18/23)
After a cold start to Saturday, more Freeze Warnings have been issued across the Deep South. Extending from eastern Texas to the coast of North Carolina, temperatures are expected to drop below freezing for several hours and will effect the growing season that has begun for many. Current warnings have been posted starting at 9 p.m. Saturday through 11 a.m. Sunday, with another warning expected for Sunday night into Monday.
Morning lows on Sunday will be several degrees colder compared to Saturday morning. Across the area, lows will drop to the lower 20s overnight with northwestern winds ranging from about 10-20 mph. That will be enough to give us a wind chill to start the second half of the weekend, too.
On the other hand, once we get through a couple chillier mornings, a warming trend starts Sunday into early next week. Temperatures are expected to climb into the 50s by the start of spring on Monday.
Rain chances begin Tuesday evening and linger through Friday next week. The warming trend continues through Thursday, as highs are expected to reach the low 70s.
