Forecast:

After tying a record high temperature in Cape Girardeau yesterday at 98 degrees (98 degrees as well on August 19 in 1980, 1972, and 1962), temperatures should be much closer to average thanks to a northerly wind across our area. Partly sunny skies today with high temperatures in the upper 80s and a north-northeasterly breeze.

Low temperatures this evening will fall into the upper 60s, with mostly clear skies. A northerly wind will continue through the overnight hours and will help cool us down.

Temperatures across the heartland on Thursday will be similar to what we see today. High temperatures are expected to be near-average in the upper 80s with mostly sunny skies and a northerly breeze.

In Cape, mostly sunny skies for Thursday and high temperatures in the upper 80s. Smooth weather for both the morning and evening commutes tomorrow, and a northerly breeze that will help reduce the humidity.

There is a chance of very isolated showers just off to our west on Thursday morning. A few sprinkles will be possible for our western counties, but mostly sunny skies will prevail by the afternoon.

Finally, we are talking about dew points below 70 degrees in the month of August! Humidity levels look manageable tomorrow with dew points in the upper 60s. Dewpoints will continue to fall through the weekend.

Still a few warmer days ahead in the upper 80s and lower 90s, but plenty of sunshine heading through this weekend. Another cold front will move through on Monday and look to drop temperatures into the lower 80s and upper 70s by the start of next week.
