Mother’s Day comes with evening storm chances
Some storms throughout Saturday brought some gusty winds and some smaller reports of hail throughout the area. Not in the clear just yet, there’s some scattered storms likely for Mother’s Day, too. Accompanied by the rain and storm chances, we’ll be seeing some warmer air sending temperatures into the upper 80s and lower 90s as one of our warmest days of the next week.
Because of the risk for some storms throughout the area, the Storm Prediction Center has issued a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk for some strong to severe storms on the lower end of severe. Gusty winds and small hail will be possible as scattered showers and thunderstorms roll through mainly Sunday evening into early Monday.
Stormcast shows a decent chance for some of the stronger storms out of this round to come for the Cape area by midnight, if not a little beforehand. Again, primary threats are hail and winds with the timing of this wave of activity toward the end of Mother’s Day.
After that, the first half of next week will be fairly quiet and a lot cooler, as temperatures fall into the middle 70s for a time before rebounding back into the 80s.
