National Weather Service confirms seven tornadoes from Wednesday night
Seven tornadoes have now been confirmed from Wednesday evening (April 2, 2025) by the National Weather Service. There were three tornadoes confirmed in Missouri, two confirmed in southern Illinois and two in western Kentucky from the FOX23 area.

CAPE GIRARDEAU (MISSOURI) – EF-1 TORNADO
The summary from the NWS office of Paducah: The tornado began near the Dalhousie Golf Club and moved northeast into the southwest side of the city of Cape Girardeau north of Shawnee Parkway. The tornado caused tree damage and minor structural damage to apartments, businesses and homes as it moved east into downtown Cape Girardeau. The tornado then crossed the Mississippi River and snapped power poles north of East Cape Girardeau.
ARAB (MISSOURI) – EF-2 TORNADO
The summary from the NWS office of Paducah: An EF-2 tornado began on TT Highway near the McGee community in far eastern Wayne County. Moving east-northeast, the tornado did extensive tree damage as it across P Highway northeast of McGee. After crossing into Bollinger County, the tornado intensified as it crossed County Road 720, where an A-frame home was severely damaged, and a church lost of much of its roof. The tornado continued eastward, doing severe tree damage along County Road 714. The tornado lifted after removing the roof of the house on County Road 618, just northeast of the community of Arab.
DELTA (MISSOURI) – EF-2 TORNADO
The summary from the NWS office of Paducah: The tornado began just northeast of Advance, running northeast along Highway 25. The tornado damaged approximately 200 structures as it moved northeast causing severe roof damage to many structures. Power poles were snapped, trees were snapped and uprooted along the path. The tornado continued along Highway 25 into the community of Delta where many of the communities inhabitants where inside a FEMA community storm shelter. The tornado severely damaged several buildings in Delta and continued northeast ending just south of Dutchtown.
SW UNION COUNTY (ILLINOIS) – EF-1 TORNADO
The summary from the NWS office of Paducah: An EF-1 tornado impacted rural parts of southwest Union County, Illinois. Damage was limited to uprooted or snapped trees and downed tree limbs along its path. The tornado began near Reynoldsville, moving north-northeast. It then turned on a northeasterly path south of Ware, passing just south of the Pottsville community and ending at Highway 146 just west of Jonesboro.
NORTH OF ANNA (ILLINOIS) – EF-0 TORNADO
The summary from the NWS office of Paducah: A brief EF-0 tornado caused damage to tree limbs and uprooted a couple trees along US Highway 51 north of Anna.
BALLARD/MCCRACKEN (KENTUCKY) – EF-2 TORNADO
The summary from the NWS office of Paducah: The tornado began near the town of Gage in eastern Ballard County, snapping power poles and doing damage to several barns and outbuildings. One barn appears to have been totally destroyed. The tornado then did significant damage to a church where a family sustained serious injuries while attempting to shelter under an awning. The tornado continued eastward into McCracken County where it did serious damage to a church just off the property of Barkley Regional Airport. Trees and power poles were damaged along with minor damage to home and business exteriors as the tornado continued east down Hinklleville Rd into northern parts of Paducah where the track ended at the Ohio River.
POPE/LIVINGSTON (KENTUCKY) – EF-2 TORNADO
The summary from the NWS office of Paducah: The tornado began in extreme southwestern Massac County doing tree damage and damage to the roof of a home in extreme southern Pope County. The tornado then crossed the Ohio River and snapped utility poles before crossing the Cumberland River doing tree damage in the town of Vicksburg before crossing the Cumberland River a final time and dissipating in central Livingston County.
