Nice and comfortable for the next few days (6/7/23)
A weak cold front passed through the area on Wednesday, bringing light rain to the area. Rain totals weren’t overly impressive, and the cold front delivered cooler air from north to south.
The same front will sit to our south and southwest into Thursday morning. For that reason, we can’t completely rule out an overnight or early morning shower closer to the Bootheel and communities like Poplar Bluff.
Cape Girardeau should be completely dry on Thursday morning, and just about everyone stays dry through the rest of the day. We expect mostly sunny skies with some passing high clouds. High temperatures will range from the lower-80s in our northern communities to the middle and upper-80s farther south.
The humidity also drops off significantly for the next couple of days. Because highs will be in the mid to upper-80s through Saturday, it will feel very comfortable. Nevertheless, temperatures will be just warm enough to support some degree of mosquito activity. For that reason, the Skeeter Meter sits in the “medium” territory through Saturday.
A muggier air mass returns on Sunday. That, coupled with an upper-level disturbance will bring storms through the area. Storms appear likely across the FOX 23 coverage area on Sunday, and it will be cooler as a result. While things trend drier for the start of the workweek, more storm chances arrive by mid-week.
