Pop-up storm chances return Wednesday (5/30/23)
It was another very quiet day across the FOX 23 coverage area on Tuesday. Cape Girardeau was able to reach 88° for a high, and aside from a few clouds, sunshine dominated.
We’ll keep mostly clear skies overnight and into Wednesday morning. We expect temperatures early Wednesday in the mid to upper-60s.
Temperatures will quickly climb on Wednesday afternoon. We’re forecasting high temperatures in the upper-80s to low-90s, which is above average for this time of year.
The humidity will also be with us, and the combination of heat/humidity will allow for pop-up storms to develop in the heat of the day. We probably won’t be dealing with severe weather out of these, and they will fade away once we lose the daytime heating effects.
We’ll keep some pop-up storm chances through the rest of the workweek. Highs will likely top out in the 90s on several occasions, with temperatures just a few degrees shy of record-territory closer to the weekend.
