Possible Severe Weather overnight Tuesday through Wednesday

Severe weather risks are in place overnight Tuesday through Wednesday, with heavy rain and strong winds expected.

Day 1

A storm system is expected to arrive Tuesday evening and continue overnight through Wednesday. The KBSI coverage area is in a Marginal (green), Slight (yellow) and Enhanced (orange) risk for severe weather. A Moderate risk (red) is to the west just outside of our viewing area. Cape Girardeau is under a Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk for overnight Tuesday. We will continue to track the timing and destinations of possible severe weather.

Day2

There is a Marginal, Slight and Enhanced severe weather risk through Wednesday. This time, Cape Girardeau is under an Enhanced (Level 3 of 5) risk. We can expect heavy rain and strong wind gusts. It is still uncertain if the storm system can build stronger threats, we will continue to track the cold front for increased movement along the front that could potentially produce faster storms.

Wind Wed Severe

A majority of the FOX23 coverage area is in a 30% probability for damaging thunderstorm winds. Strong wind gusts are expected throughout Wednesday. There is also a 15% probability for damaging thunderstorm winds in our western counties. Wind gusts are expected to reach near 40-50mph with potential to carry flying debris.

Tor Risk Wed

There is a 5% probability for a tornado in the FOX23 counties in the brown, with a 2% probability for a tornado in our western counties in green. We will continue to bring severe weather updates throughout the passing storm system.

New Wind Adv

There is a Wind Advisory in place from 4am through 4pm Wednesday. As a storm system arrives in the FOX23 viewing area we will be seeing wind speeds of 15-20 mph from the south with gusts as high as 40-50pmph.

3 7 Day Forecast

Possible storms continue into Wednesday, then drying up Thursday with a brief cool down temperatures expected to be in the upper 50s. More sun Friday into Sunday with temperatures warming back into the 60s and 70s for Easter on Sunday. A slight chance for rain on Monday before drying up once again on Tuesday.
