Possible Severe Weather Thursday and Friday, chance for flooding
A storm system makes its way in Thursday afternoon starting with light rain before quickly turning into heavier rain with possible thunderstorms for the remainder of the evening. The storm system continues throughout the morning, afternoon and evening hours on Friday. Possible thunderstorms continue with a Marginal and Slight Risk for Severe Weather and a Flood Watch. There is a chance for the tail end of this storm system to carry into the Early AM hours on Saturday before clearing out leaving partly sunny skies for the rest of the day.
There is a Marginal Risk for Severe Weather on Thursday for parts of Missouri and Illinois, due to expected heavy rain and thunderstorms.
While an approaching storm system arrives on Thursday, we will see temperatures in the 70s. Wind speeds pick up 15 to 20 mph from the southwest with gusts as high as 33mph.
Through Friday, there is a Marginal Risk for Severe Weather for the northwestern parts of the KBSI viewing area. There is also a Slight Risk for Severe Weather in the southeastern parts of the KBSI viewing area, due to expected heavy rain and potential thunderstorms.
Excessive Rainfall is expected through Friday, a majority of the FOX23 coverage area is in a Moderate Risk. Rain totals between 3-5 inches are expected.
There is a Flood Watch for a majority of counties in the FOX23 viewing area through the evening hours on Friday. Since there has been light rain these past few days some terrain is soaked, as another storm system arrives bringing heavier rain with it, flooding is expected.
Heavy rain and potential thunderstorms arrive Thursday afternoon and will continue throughout the evening hours on Friday. There is a chance for the end of the passing storm system to linger into the early AM hours Saturday before clearing up with mostly sunny skies. Another chance for rain comes back on Sunday before drying up for the start of the new work week. Temperatures expected to stay in the 60s and 70s for the next couple of days.
