Rain chances increasing for next week (7/23/22)
While we have been stuck in a hot, muggy, and dry pattern for some time, relief arrives sooner rather than later.
Sunday will be another hot day, with high temperatures in the middle and upper-90s across the FOX 23 coverage area. We’ll still have high humidity, and for that reason, a heat advisory remains in effect. Peak heat indices on Sunday afternoon may near 110° in many locations for another day.
While most of Sunday stays dry, we have to introduce isolated storm chances starting late in the afternoon and lasting into the evening. These storms are associated with the approach of a cold front. This brings increased rain chances along with it on Monday and Tuesday as well.
Given the increased chance of standing water associated with storms, we’re bumping the Skeeter Meter into the “Ugh” territory on Monday and Tuesday.
While temperatures may back off slightly with some of these rain chances next week, the humidity will hold on strong. A stronger cold front arrives on Thursday, however. That front has the potential to knock the temperatures and humidity down a few notches.
